Sevoflurane is a fluorinated gas anesthetic that works quickly due to its low solubility, allowing smooth induction and fast recovery. Its mild, non-irritating odor makes it a top choice for mask induction, especially in children. Sevoflurane calms the brain in a dose-dependent way, relaxes muscles, and opens airways to ease breathing. At high doses or with dry soda lime in the anesthesia machine, it can produce Compound A, which may affect kidneys. It's widely used for its stable heart and blood pressure effects and patient comfort, particularly for starting anesthesia via inhalation.
