Dobutamine
Dobutamine
(Dobutrex)
Cardiovascular Agents
Dobutamine is a synthetic catecholamine with predominant β1 activity used for acute heart failure and cardiogenic shock. It increases myocardial contractility and cardiac output with minimal effects on heart rate at lower doses. Dobutamine is particularly valuable for short-term inotropic support in decompensated heart failure and after cardiac surgery. The drug causes less peripheral vasoconstriction than dopamine.
